Yesterday’s results from Kansas are a dire reminder for Republicans across the country hellbent on banning abortion that their position is wildly out of step with Americans and that they will be held accountable for their extreme views. Make no mistake — if they gain power, MAGA Republicans will stop at nothing to pursue their dangerous, anti-choice agenda.

Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell actually celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade as a “gigantic step forward” and said that a Republican majority could try to make abortion illegal everywhere.

The Hill: “McConnell says national abortion ban ‘possible’”

As if that weren’t bad enough, Mike Pence — Donald Trump’s former MAGA wingman — vowed to try to ban abortion in every state in a speech discussing his post-Roe vision last month.

Mike Pence: “We must recognize that we have only come to the end of the beginning. Standing here in the first days of Post-Roe America, we must resolve that we will not rest, we will not relent, until the sanctity of life is restored to the center of American law in every state in the nation.”

Worst of all, high-profile Republicans like South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem want to force 10-year-old rape victims to give birth to their rapist’s child. Other GOP lawmakers have followed suit, promising to ban abortion with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother.

CNN: “South Dakota governor defends state’s abortion ‘trigger’ ban when asked if 10-year-old should be forced to give birth”

Idaho Capital Sun: “No exception for life of mother included in Idaho GOP’s abortion platform language”

Remember: Every single House Republican voted down a proposed bill that would codify Roe and restore the right to an abortion for all Americans.

Washington Post: “The House on Friday passed legislation that would protect access to reproductive health care… One bill, the Women’s Health Protection Act, would enshrine the protections of Roe v. Wade into law… All Republicans voted against the measure.”

But House Republicans didn’t stop there: 195 of these loyal MAGA foot soldiers voted against a bill to protect a woman’s constitutional right to access contraceptives.

This is the state of today’s MAGA Republican Party — and just like in Kansas, GOP candidates will be held accountable for their dangerous agenda this November.
