MDP Chair Lavora Barnes issued the following statement in response to the Michigan Court of Appeals ruling that odd-quality ‘guru’ Perry Johnson “has not carried his burden of establishing that he is entitled to” inclusion on the August Republican primary ballot:

“Today’s ruling upholds the ironclad integrity of our electoral process. We’re pleased that justice prevailed today as the Court of Appeals concluded that Perry Johnson, and Perry Johnson alone, bears responsibility for ensuring his nominating petitions weren’t fraudulent and included a sufficient amount of valid signatures – a sentiment shared by several members of his own party. Michiganders deserve accountable leadership, no matter how many of their own millions they were willing to put behind their wrong-for-Michigan campaign. Perhaps the quality ‘guru’ will live up to his name next time.

We look forward to similar decisions for James Craig and Michael Markey.”
