NEW ADS: Sen. Baldwin, Lt. Gov. Barnes & Local Leaders Encourage Wisconsinites To Make A Plan To Vote

Spots feature Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, Mayor Tom Barrett, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, & State Sen.-Elect Kelda Roys

Today, the Democratic National Committee released a new series of digital ads featuring Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Lt. Gov Mandela Barnes, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, and state Sen.-Elect Kelda Roys, who underscore the stakes of this election and encourage Wisconsinites to make a plan to vote as soon as possible. The ads are running on digital platforms like YouTube.

“The time has come — the chance to vote for a new president and bring a brighter future to our state,” said Sen. Baldwin. “The time to make a plan to vote early is right now. And don’t forget to tell your friends and family to do the same … The future of our country is on the ballot, and we need to show up like never before.”

“The most important election of our lifetime is here,” said Lt. Gov. Barnes. “We hold the power to bring about change and to bring a new president to the White House. So, make sure you have a plan to vote.”

“This is the time for us as Americans to step up and have our voices heard,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “So, please do what you can. Talk to your friends, your neighbors. Please get out and vote between now and November 3rd.”

“You need to vote this year, because health care is on the ballot,” said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “Climate change is on the ballot. Our economy is on the ballot. And, we need your vote to turn Wisconsin blue. This year, your vote matters more than ever.”

“Voting is important to me because I want my kids to grow up in a world that’s better than the one that I grew up in,” said state Sen.-Elect Roys. “I think if we want to make progress as a society, we all have to make our voices heard, and it’s never been more important than it is this year.”

Ahead of Trump’s Visit to Pennsylvania, DNC Unveils New Billboard Slamming the Trump Administration’s Failed COVID-19 Response

Today, the Democratic National Committee unveiled new billboards near Reading Regional Airport in Pennsylvania, the site of President Trump’s second rally today, highlighting how Trump’s failed coronavirus response has hurt Pennsylvanians — leading to the deaths of more than 8,700 Pennsylvanians and over a million lost jobs in the state.

The billboards, located on the Warren Street Bypass at Bernville Road near Reading Airport, are running all day Saturday and will reach Pennsylvanians in the area around Trump’s event today.

“COVID-19 cases are soaring, Trump is preparing for his lawsuit to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, and he still doesn’t have a plan to create good-paying jobs for Pennsylvanians and take them out of the biggest economic recession in nearly a century,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “We’re reaching Pennsylvanians with a message they can’t miss: Nothing Trump says today can change his four years of failed, incompetent leadership — and voters will hold him accountable by voting him out of office.”

An image of the billboard is below:

Yesterday, in advance of Trump’s rallies, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party hosted a virtual press conference with PA Dems Chair Nancy Patton Mills, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (PA-6), and congressional candidates Christina Finello (PA-01) and Kristy Gnibus (PA-16) to discuss how President Trump’s economic policies, COVID-19 response and attacks on health care have left working families in the region behind.

Truth comes to light on Posthumus’ checkered past

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Bryan Posthumus comes from a family with a recognizable name and political connections, but as a candidate for Michigan’s 73rd House District, Posthumus should be more truthful with voters and let them know he has a checkered past, the Kent County Democratic Party said today.

The truth is:

  • Posthumus pled guilty to operating while intoxicated in January 2013, according to court records, and has been found guilty two other times of driving with a suspended license.

  • Posthumus was evicted from Woodland Creek Apartments in Kentwood in September 2016. That address — which is outside of the 73rd District — is still listed on his voting record.

  • Posthumus has several active liens against his business, West Michigan Hopyards, for failure to pay on debt obligations.

“Bryan Posthumus doesn’t think the law applies to him because he comes from a politically influential family whose allegiance isn’t to the voters, but to Betsy DeVos’ failed school policies and the leadership vacuum that is Donald Trump,” said Gary Stark, chair of the Kent County Democratic Party. “The truth is Bryan Posthumus is not telling the voters who he really is. Voters in the 73rd District can’t trust him.”

Michigan’s 73rd House District covers parts of Kent County, including East Grand Rapids and the townships of Nelson, Spencer, Courtland, Oakfield, Cannon, Plainfield and Grand Rapids.

DNC on U.S. Passing 9 Million COVID-19 Cases

DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after the United States reached 9 million confirmed COVID-19 cases, more than any other country in the world:

“9 million Americans have been infected. Nearly 230,000 have died. 8 million have been pushed into poverty by this administration’s incompetence, and more than 400,000 small businesses have closed for good. But Donald Trump still doesn’t have a plan to do a thing about it. This is his closing argument: more death, more suffering, more economic devastation. The American people can’t afford four more years of cruelty, chaos, and incompetence. In 5 days, we will elect Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats across the country and build back better.”

Trump Downplays COVID-19 As Cases Hit Another Record High

Trump continues to downplay the coronavirus as new cases hit another record high and he lies that deaths are “way down” even after more than 1,000 Americans died yesterday. Trump has given up on fighting the pandemic as he parades around the country holding potential superspreader events where he lies to Americans and puts even more lives at risk.

The coronavirus continues to surge across the country and hit another single-day record with the equivalent of more than one case per second.

New York Times: “On Thursday, the country recorded at least 90,000 new cases (that’s the equivalent of more than one per second) and crossed the threshold of nine million cases since the start of the pandemic.”

Washington Post: “Coronavirus cases are on the rise in every swing state”

Trump and Don Jr. are downplaying hospitalizations and deaths as both are on the rise and more than 1,000 Americans died yesterday.

TRUMP: “More Testing equals more Cases. We have best testing. Deaths WAY DOWN. Hospitals have great additional capacity! Doing much better than Europe. Therapeutics working!”

Washington Post: “Donald Trump Jr. said covid-19 deaths are at ‘almost nothing.’ The virus killed more than 1,000 Americans the same day.”

CNBC: “U.S. infections soar to record highs as hospitalizations climb in 41 states”

Americans disapprove of Trump’s dangerous crowded rallies that put their lives at risk and where he lies to them about the coronavirus.

TRUMP: “You know the bottom line though? You’re going to get better.”

USA Today: “Poll: Most Americans disapprove of Trump’s decision to hold massive campaign rallies during COVID-19 pandemic”

CNN: “Many counties that hosted Trump rallies had a significant increase in Covid-19 cases”

U.S. News: “Trump’s Rallies Are Turning Voters Against Him”

Bloomberg: “Trump Pins Hopes on Rallies That Could Be Sealing His Defeat”

Trump has given up on fighting the pandemic and is instead pushing herd immunity that could lead to millions more deaths.

The Daily Beast: “Trump’s COVID Advisers: He’s Now Pushing Herd Immunity”

USA Today Editorial: “Beyond consigning Americans to a wretched winter of sickness before a vaccine becomes widely available, surrendering in the face of a viral enemy is a tragically fitting capstone to perhaps the worst crisis-management performance for a president in U.S. history.”

Pence, who leads the coronavirus task force, isn’t doing his job and hasn’t attended a task force call with governors in over a month.

Politico: “When Vice President Mike Pence first took charge of the White House’s coronavirus task force, among his earliest moves was establishing a standing call with all 50 governors aimed at closely coordinating the nation’s pandemic fight. Yet as the U.S. confronts its biggest Covid-19 surge to date, Pence hasn’t attended one of those meetings in over a month. Pence – who has been touting the Trump administration’s response effort on the campaign trail for weeks – is not expected to be on the line again Friday, when the group holds its first governors call since Oct. 13, said a person with knowledge of the plan.”

Ahead of Trump Visit to Michigan, DNC Unveils New Billboard Slamming His Failed COVID-19 Response

Today, the Democratic National Committee is unveiling a new billboard in Oakland County ahead of Trump’s visit to Michigan this week highlighting how his failed coronavirus response has hurt Michiganders.

The billboard, located in Oakland County, will reach voters in the geographical area around Trump’s event starting this week. Across Michigan, coronavirus cases are spiking and the state reported 3,675 new cases on Wednesday.

“Voters across Oakland County won’t be able to miss this message: Trump was too incompetent and inneffective to respond to the coronavirus, and his failure has cost too many Michiganders their lives and livelihoods,” said DNC spokesperson Maddie McComb. “When Trump comes to Michigan, he’ll be greeted by the consequences of his record: spiking COVID-19 infection rates, workers who are struggling to find a good paying job, and Michiganders concerned he’ll rip away their health care coverage in the middle of a pandemic. The last thing Michigan needs is Trump coming to town to try and distract from his broken promises, and Michiganders will hold him accountable for his failures this November.”

Ahead of Trump’s visit, Michigan Democrats will host a virtual press conference with Congressman Andy Levin and Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes to discuss Trump’s attacks on health care and failure of leadership during the coronavirus pandemic.

Ahead of Trump Visit to Green Bay, DNC Unveils New Billboard Slamming His Failed COVID-19 Response

Today, the Democratic National Committee is unveiling a new billboard in Green Bay ahead of Trump’s visit to Wisconsin this week highlighting how his failed coronavirus response has hurt Wisconsinites.

The billboard, located in Green Bay, will reach voters in the geographical area around Trump’s event starting this week. Across Wisconsin, coronavirus cases are spiking and at least 93 people have died in Brown County alone. The state reports it is on track to run out of ICU beds in the next two to six weeks.

“Voters across Green Bay won’t be able to miss this message: Trump was too incompetent and inneffective to respond to the coronavirus, and his failure has cost too many Wisconsinites their lives and livelihoods,” said DNC spokesperson Maddie McComb. “When Trump comes to the Badger state, he’ll be greeted by the consequences of his record: spiking COVID-19 infection rates, workers who are struggling to find a good paying job, and Wisconsinites concerned he’ll rip away their health care coverage in the middle of a pandemic. The last thing Wisconsin needs is Trump coming to town to try and distract from his broken promises, and Wisconsinites will hold him accountable for his failures this November.”

Ahead of Trump’s event, Wisconsin Democrats are also hosting a press call with Wisconsinites impacted by Trump’s failure to respond to COVID-19.

MDP Chair Barnes, Congressman Levin Highlight Trump’s Failed Leadership Ahead of Oakland County Visit

Today, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes and Congressman Andy Levin held a virtual press conference highlighting the damage done to Michigan by Trump’s failed COVD-19 response. At the presser, they discussed how Trump’s failure to contain the deadly pandemic has decimated Michigan’s economy and how he has put attacks on health care before fighting COVID-19. They also encouraged Michiganders to vote early in-person for Joe Biden, Gary Peters, Bridget Mary McCormack, and Elizabeth Welch.

“We’ve seen time and again that one of Donald Trump’s top priorities has been to repeal the ACA and strip health care from hundreds of thousands of Michiganders,” said MDP Chair Lavora Barnes. “It’s a goal he put in front of just about every other priority. Even during the middle of a pandemic, he has fought to roll back the Affordable Care Act and gut protections for pre-existing conditions. Even as unemployment benefits expired for laid off workers, and small businesses exhausted their PPP loans, Donald Trump put appointing his Supreme Court pick first. As we speak, Michiganders are voting early in person, and Democrats are voting in huge numbers for candidates up and down the ticket. They’re voting for Gary Peters, who is up against a candidate who supports Donald Trump 2,000%. They’re voting for Elizabeth Welch and Bridget Mary McCormack, two incredible candidates for the Michigan Supreme Court. And they’re voting to flip the Michigan House to give Governor Whitmer the allies she needs in Lansing. And, of course, they’re voting for Joe Biden. Election Day is already here in Michigan, and I urge voters to make a plan to vote early in person, or on November 3rd. There couldn’t be more at stake.”

“So many Michiganders are already voting and here comes Donald Trump again to our state,” said Congressman Andy Levin. “I’m overwhelmed with what a disaster he has been to the state of Michigan. We have 57,000 fewer manufacturing jobs than we did at the beginning of his term. His failed COVID-19 response has shuttered factories and sent our unemployment rate skyrocketing. Earlier this week, his party adjourned the Senate without passing critical assistance for workers and small businesses. We passed the Heroes Act on May 15th and a revised Heroes Act on October 1st, and Republicans in the Senate haven’t passed anything at all. I can’t be any clearer: there’s no fixing the economy without fixing the pandemic. The good news is that Joe Biden has a plan to address the pandemic in Michigan and build our country back better. I’m a big supporter of his Build Back Better plan, including a part aligned with my EV Freedom Act to build high speed charging infrastructure throughout the national highway system. So, in these last days, we have to get to the polls. Even if you’ve never registered, you can register and vote right at your clerk’s office from night now right through Election Day.”

As Pence Heads to Washoe County, DNC Blankets Reno with Slate of New Billboards & TV Ad Slamming Trump’s Failed COVID Response

DNC War Room releases new TV ad in Reno market highlighting how Trump’s failed leadership has plunged Nevada into crisis

Today, ahead of Vice President Pence’s visit to Nevada, the Democratic National Committee unveiled a slate of three new billboards blanketing the Reno area near his event to highlight how Trump’s failed coronavirus response has hurt Nevada families — from leading to more than 1,700 lives lost statewide to putting hundreds of thousands of Nevadans out of work.

Located northbound on Interstate 580 in South Reno, westbound on Interstate 80, and just south of the McCarran Boulevard & Greg Street intersection, the billboards will reach voters traveling on both freeways near Reno-Tahoe International Airport, where Pence is set to hold his event.

The DNC War Room also released a new television ad in Nevada today, “Deserves,” that highlights who Trump really is: someone with a long record of lying, cheating, and stealing his way through life and whose failed leadership has plunged Nevada into crisis. The ad is airing this week in the Reno media market as part of a six-figure buy.

“Voters across Reno won’t miss this message: Trump and failed White House coronavirus task force leader Mike Pence have had eight months to control the COVID-19 crisis — but they’ve failed, and their incompetence has cost too many Nevadans their lives and livelihoods,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “Even worse, Trump’s still trying to take away health coverage from Nevadans, even in the middle of a global pandemic. No matter what Pence says today, nothing can distract voters from Trump’s years of broken promises and the fact that he’s given up on containing the coronavirus — and Nevadans will hold Trump and Pence accountable by casting their ballots to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”

Earlier today, the Nevada State Democratic Party hosted a press event in Reno ahead of Pence’s rally with DNC Chair Tom Perez, Nevada State Democratic Party Native American Caucus Chair Brian Melendez, and Nevada Democratic National Committeeman Alex Goff to highlight how the Trump administration’s failed pandemic response has hurt communities of color in Washoe County and across Nevada.
