|Today, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced its first ever August congressional recess “Build Back Better” bus tour to highlight how President Biden and Democrats are delivering for the American people with the creation of more than four million jobs, tax cuts for middle-class families, and lower health care costs. The tour will kick off with Terry McAuliffe in Virginia on Thursday, August 12 and will make stops across the country with surrogates like Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, Rep. Joaquin Castro, Secretary Julián Castro, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Tucson Mayor Regina Romero. In total, the bus will stop in more than ten states across the South, Mountain West, Midwest, and Northeast.
The tour will include events with mayors, governors, members of Congress, and local storytellers to promote the work that President Biden and Democratic leaders have done to improve the economy and get working Americans back on track, while holding Republicans accountable for voting against critical measures that have helped small businesses, gotten millions of people vaccinated, and provided a major tax cut for working parents.
“Thanks to President Biden and Democrats, America is building back better than ever, and the DNC is hitting the road to make sure everybody knows that the ‘D’ in Democrats stands for ‘deliver,’” said Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison. “Because of President Biden’s and Democrats’ leadership, jobs and wages are up, unemployment is down, and middle-class families are benefiting from a major tax cut. We know there is still work to be done and the DNC’s ‘Build Back Better’ bus tour will remind people across the country that it is Democrats who are delivering results for the American people — no thanks to Republicans.”
