Ahead of Donald Trump’s campaign stops in New Hampshire and South Carolina tomorrow, DNC spokesperson Ammar Moussa released the following statement:

“In his bid to consolidate support and scare off competitors, Donald Trump is reminding everyone of just how extreme the MAGA agenda was – from paving the way for the most extreme abortion bans, gifting tax giveaways to the ultra-wealthy and biggest corporations, and embracing the most fringe policies and divisive rhetoric. The rest of the GOP 2024 field is tripping over itself to be just as extreme and this is just the beginning in their race for the MAGA base.”

Trump’s team insists that he alone holds the strongest anti-abortion record by appointing the three Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade and that his anti-abortion record is “unmatched.”

Trump: “Nobody has ever done more for Right to Life than Donald Trump. I put three Supreme Court justices, who all voted, and they got something that they’ve been fighting for 64 years, or many, many years.”

CNN: “‘There has been no bigger advocate for the movement than President Trump.’ said Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung in a statement to CNN.”

The Washington Post: “Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, said in a statement that Trump’s ‘unmatched record speaks for itself,’ pointing to his policies and appointments of antiabortion federal judges and Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade last summer, erasing a ruling that established a constitutional right to abortion and delivering a decades-long priority for conservative Christians.”

Trump’s travel comes as Republicans in Congress are pushing to cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy and trying to cut Medicare and Social Security programs – policies Trump himself championed as president.

Trump’s FY21 budget proposal called for a net cut of $480 billion from Medicare and $24 billion from Social Security programs.

Trump’s FY20 budget proposed cutting $575 billion from Medicare and $26 billion from Social Security programs.

Trump’s FY19 budget proposed cutting $554 billion from Medicare and $72.5 billion from SSDI and Supplemental Security Income.

Trump’s FY18 budget proposed a $70 billion cut to SSDI benefits.

As Trump hits the road for the first time since announcing his candidacy, the rest of the potential GOP field is already busy pushing each other to take increasingly extreme positions.

Trump: “Now I hear [DeSantis] might want to run against me. So, we’ll handle that the way I handle things.”

CBS: “Gov. Kristi Noem says she would ‘nudge’ GOP governors, including Florida’s Ron DeSantis, to do more to restrict abortion”

CNN: “Pence recently retweeted a statement from the anti-abortion advocacy organization Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America responding to Trump’s remarks in which the group urged the former president and other potential candidates to articulate an ‘ambitious consensus pro-life position’ and avoid an ‘Ostrich Strategy’ on abortion. ‘Well Said!’ Pence tweeted.”
