Last night, Virginia gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin tightened his embrace of Donald Trump and his extremist, anti-democratic conspiracies as Trump headlined a rally for his campaign that featured attendees pledging their allegiance to a flag that was used at the January 6 insurrection. In response, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement:

“In the final weeks of his campaign, Glenn Youngkin is making it perfectly clear that his top priority is to bring Donald Trump’s dangerous, divisive agenda to Virginia. He’s not just flirting with extremist conspiracies anymore; instead, he is embracing Donald Trump and the violent attack on our government as his closing message. The stakes couldn’t be higher: Virginia needs to keep moving forward by re-electing Terry McAuliffe on November 2 instead of electing an extremist Trump wannabe in Glenn Youngkin,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison.

In addition to pledging allegiance to a January 6 flag, attendees at last night’s rally also heard Trump’s latest full throated endorsement of Youngkin, saying that if elected, Youngkin will “do all of the things that we want a governor to do” just hours after reiterating his belief that the “Presidential Election Fraud of 2020” is the most important issue facing the country. It’s just the latest embrace between Trump and Youngkin, who said earlier in his campaign that “Trump represents so much of why I’m running.”
