DNC Statement on President Biden Signing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal

Following President Biden’s signing of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement:

“Today is a major turning point for hardworking families all across the country, as President Biden and Vice President Harris delivered on their promise to work across the aisle to make a historic investment in our nation’s infrastructure. Thanks to President Biden’s leadership, Americans across the country can finally celebrate Infrastructure Week for real, after it became a running joke under the Trump administration.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will rebuild our roads and bridges, expand broadband so every American has access to high-speed internet, and secure clean drinking water for our families and children. It will create good-paying jobs, grow the economy, strengthen supply chains, reduce inflationary pressures, and restore American competitiveness on the world stage. Simply put, it’s a BFD.

“This bill is for the children in rural communities forced to do their homework in the McDonald’s parking lot because they don’t have WiFi. It’s for families who have to boil their water in order to safely drink it. This bill is for those who rely on rail to get back and forth to work. This bill is for Americans who care about our climate. And yes, this bill is for the elderly man I met years ago in rural South Carolina, who just wanted his damn dirt road paved. We’re going to pave a whole lot of roads and help a whole lot of Americans with this historic legislation.

“The signing of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will make a huge difference for Americans across the country, from rural communities to major cities, no matter their background or income. The Democratic Party will continue to remind voters that it was made possible by President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats who never gave up the fight, and will hold Republicans who inevitably try to take credit after voting no on this historic legislation accountable.”
