Today, weeks ahead of an initial deadline and after inheriting a disjointed vaccine rollout, President Biden has delivered on his promise to make every American adult eligible for a coronavirus vaccine.

The United States is setting new records every week, and vaccinating, on average, 3.2 million Americans per day, up from the 2.5 million per day a month ago.

New York Times: “‘It’s truly historic that we have already reached this milestone,’ said Dr. Nandita Mani, the associate medical director of infection prevention and control at the University of Washington Medical Center. After a slow start, the pace of vaccinations has risen considerably in recent months. Mr. Biden, who initially said he wanted states to make all adults eligible for a vaccine by May 1, moved the deadline up as vaccinations accelerated. Mr. Biden has also set a goal of administering 200 million doses by his 100th day in office, which the nation is on pace to meet.”

Now, an estimated 90% of Americans live within five miles of a vaccination site, as President Biden continues to ramp up access to vaccines.

CNN: “The Biden administration has ramped up its role in distributing and administering coronavirus vaccines, boosting federal pipelines in recent months with more doses and more vaccination sites in preparation for mounting US supply and the next phase of the US vaccination campaign. As the US officially entered that phase on Monday — with every person 16 years and older now eligible to be vaccinated — Biden administration officials said they estimate that 90% of Americans now live within five miles of a vaccination site as a result of the expanded federal channels. Nearly 40,000 pharmacies are now equipped to put shots in arms through a direct-to-pharmacy federal vaccine program, up from just a few thousand when the program launched two months ago.”

This comes on the heels of news that half of all U.S. adults have already received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Washington Post: “More than 131 million people, or half of all American adults, had received at least one shot as of Sunday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 84.3 million people have been fully vaccinated.”

CNBC: “Half of all American adults have now received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, according to the CDC. The milestone comes as President Joe Biden’s deadline arrives for states to expand their vaccine eligibility requirements. Biden asked states to open appointments to all U.S. adults by April 19.”
