Four years ago, Donald Trump — AKA the “master of the deal” — unveiled the first of many long-awaited and underwhelming infrastructure plans. After campaigning on delivering an Infrastructure Week for the American people, he instead delivered what can be summed up to represent his entire presidency — a joke. With each plan he proposed failing before it could gather steam, this is just one more reminder that Republicans’ partisan games don’t deliver results.
Luckily for Michiganders, President Biden and Democrats in Congress delivered an infrastructure plan in nine months that the previous administration couldn’t achieve in four years. By crossing party lines and working with members of Congress to forge consensus, President Biden delivered a once-in-a-generation plan to ensure roads, bridges, airports, and internet infrastructure had the funding they desperately needed.
As funding is doled out, Michiganders are lucky to have Governor Whitmer at the helm as she delivers on her promise to “fix the damn roads” — further highlighting that Democrats, not Republicans are getting the job done in our communities.
