Even Fox News is taking Republicans to task for their wildly unpopular plan to gut Americans’ hard-earned Social Security and Medicare benefits.

Yesterday, Fox News host Shannon Bream called out House GOP Whip Steve Scalise for Republicans’ extreme plan to gut Social Security and Medicare.

Newsweek: “Fox News Host Confronts GOP’s Scalise on Proposed Medicare Cuts: ‘Betrayal’”

It’s not just Fox News — Republican voters are saying that Republicans’ plan to gut their EARNED Social Security and Medicare benefits is a complete “betrayal” to the American people.

Newsweek: “As soon as his interview began, host Shannon Bream… presented the lawmaker with a message from a concerned Fox News viewer, who characterized the GOP’s plan for Medicare as a potential ‘betrayal.’

‘He’s a Republican, he’s very worried about you cutting his Medicare,’ Bream said as she relayed the message she purported to have received on Twitter. ‘He says it’s a dealbreaker and a betrayal by the GOP.’”

Earlier this year, Scalise signed onto an extreme plan put out by the Republican Study Committee that would cut benefits for tens of millions of future Social Security and Medicare recipients.

Bloomberg: “Scalise is a member of largest House GOP caucus, the Republican Study Committee, which has proposed changes that would result in lower benefits for some future recipients.”

NBC News: “The Republican Study Committee, a large group of House conservatives, proposed a budget in June that would incrementally raise the retirement age to collect Social Security… and lower benefits over the long term.”

Make no mistake: Republicans like Scalise are completely hellbent on gutting Social Security and Medicare benefits for millions of Americans. That’s what’s at stake this November.
