While Republicans continue to wage attacks on Americans’ fundamental right to vote across the country, the DNC is not only committed to protecting that right, we are also dedicated to expanding it in communities where people have been historically disenfranchised. That’s why, to mark National Voter Registration Day, the Democratic National Committee announced an initial investment of nearly $5 million for a program to register voters across battleground states ahead of the 2022 midterms — the DNC’s biggest ever commitment to voter registration in a midterm cycle and will focus specifically on outreach to communities of color.

Voters across the country this week continued to read about how President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, including his Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, would create jobs, cut taxes, fix our nation’s roads and bridges, and lower costs for working families—all paid for by making the tax code fairer and making the wealthiest and large corporations pay their fair share. While Democrats continue to work to deliver for the American people, Republicans in Congress are united in their opposition to this transformational progress.

As New Hampshire small business owner Dan Chartrand put it: “As a small business owner, I know that nothing is free – but that’s where the Build Back Better plan gets even better: We can get all this done without raising taxes on any middle-class family or small business.”

And all week, local editorial boards, veterans, small business owners, and others across the country have called out Republicans and highlighted the very real consequences that defaulting on our nation’s debt would have on working people.
