This past weekend, Indiana Republicans voted to pass a near-total abortion ban in the Hoosier State — which GOP Governor Eric Holcomb signed into law on Friday. Indiana became the first state to pass an abortion ban after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and stripped the American people of their constitutional right to make their own health care decisions.

Make no mistake: Indiana Republicans are setting a model for GOP lawmakers in other states to follow — putting the health of women across America at risk.

The Indiana law goes even further: It will punish doctors who perform the procedure and strip them of their medical licenses.

Let’s be clear — abortion extremism is the GOP party line. Just last month, every single House Republican voted against a bill that would codify the protections of Roe v. Wade. And as if it couldn’t get any worse, the Idaho GOP passed a party platform banning abortion with no exceptions for the life of the mother

The Washington Post: “The House on Friday passed legislation that would protect access to reproductive health care… One bill, the Women’s Health Protection Act, would enshrine the protections of Roe v. Wade into law… All Republicans voted against the measure.”

Idaho Capital Sun: “No exception for life of mother included in Idaho GOP’s abortion platform language”

But as last week’s ballot measure vote in Kansas made clear, Republicans’ abortion views are wildly out of step with the American people — and they will be held accountable for their dangerous agenda in November.
