LANSING — The stumbles just keep coming for Republican gubernatorial candidate James Craig. First he fled his own campaign kickoff venue for a more private location on the rooftop of a building in a gated complex. Then, after weeks of avoiding opportunities to disclose how he would tackle improving Michigan’s infrastructure, Craig said during a press conference that making key investments in our roads and bridges was not “one of my priorities” and admitted he had no plan to do so.

MDP spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite issued the following statement:

“This is the problem with candidates like James Craig biting off more than they can chew by waging statewide campaigns at the urging of party insiders. It’s not enough to run against something. The millions of Michiganders Craig is running to lead expect actual answers on how he would proactively address their biggest problems. To be in the race for governor since June yet give such a flippant answer about something as major as infrastructure is entirely unacceptable. If Craig’s brand of leadership is showing no regard for something that impacts our economy and touches all of our lives, we’ll pass.”
