Pledges to stand with Tudor Dixon on taking away a woman’s right to choose

LANSING, Mich. – This past weekend, fringe Republican Secretary of State Candidate Kristina Karamo said the reason she got into politics is to fight against a woman’s right to have an abortion.

A tireless election denier and peddler of debunked conspiracy theories who received former President Trump’s endorsement, Karamo was nominated on Saturday by the Michigan GOP to be Michigan’s chief motor vehicle administrator and election officer.

“I’m pro-life from conception to natural death and that’s the reason I got into politics is to fight against abortion,” Karamo said in video captured during the Michigan Republican Party convention this past weekend.

“In her own words, Kristina Karamo wants to be Michigan’s chief election officer so she can take away a woman’s freedom to make her own medical decisions,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chairwoman Lavora Barnes. “It’s bad enough that the Michigan GOP has nominated a candidate for Secretary of State who is an election denier and a conspiracy theorist,” Barnes added. “But the notion that they have endorsed a candidate who is both of those things and also a person who characterizes a woman’s right to choose as a demonic possession and their decision to terminate a pregnancy as “child sacrifice” is a serious threat to our democracy.”

Karamo’s radical position reflects the same position as the Republican candidates for governor and attorney general, Tudor Dixon and Matt DePerno.

Karamo says she “absolutely” stands with Tudor Dixon who makes no exceptions for rape, incest, or even the life of the mother.
