LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes.

“Governor Whitmer sent a clear message to the GOP-led legislature today, she is not interested in any political games that prevent Michiganders from getting the full allocation of federal dollars for COVID relief. Forty-eight days ago the Governor proposed a plan for allocating those federal COVID relief dollars, and it took until last week for the legislature to act. Even with the legislature finally taking action, Republicans still prevented the full distribution of those federal monies which included funding for schools, vaccine distribution, rent and utility support, and food assistance. These are the types of life support measures that the Republican party has deemed not important to Michiganders. We stand with the Governor in calling on the legislative leaders to work with her to allocate the additional $2B that has been left on the table by Michigan GOP leaders.”
