In a Facebook post showing her pictured with Nigel Farage, MIGOP co-chair Meshawn Maddock took a page from the well-documented racist, sexist, xenophobe, and former UK Independence Party leader by calling for Michigan to wage its own Brexit and leave the United States.

Maddock wrote: “Maybe it’s time for a #MIexit American’s [sic] tried it once before! Time to end our Governor’s tyrannical rule. #NigelFarage”

Falsehood-based demonstrations are nothing new to the unhinged MIGOP co-chair. As part of Women for Trump, Maddock organized busloads of insurrectionists for the violent storming of the U.S. Capitol that took place on January 6th to support the Big Lie. Now she wants to take her fascination with treason even further by encouraging secession.

The Michigan Democratic Party released a statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes:

“Let’s recap what has defined the MIGOP over the past few months. Mike Shirkey was pictured with the same militia members that plotted to kidnap and kill Governor Whitmer. MIGOP co-chair Ron Weiser echoed the extremist rhetoric of wanting to burn our state’s women leaders at the stake. And now we’ve got Insurrection-enabler Meshawn Maddock leading the charge on Michigan seceding from America. Michigan Republicans will call for anything and be seen with anyone — with no regard to the fringe rhetoric it emboldens and violence it encourages — as long as the end goal is undermining Governor Whitmer. At this point, the question isn’t whether the MIGOP embraces extremism, it’s how many amongst their ranks are in line with these unhinged sentiments. Michiganders deserve to know if there are any Republicans brave enough to call Maddock’s latest antics out or if MIGOP has completely given itself over to hyperpartisanship at all costs.”
