The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes on plans to appeal the recent Court of Claims decision.

“A clear decision was made by the courts and reaffirmed by the Secretary of State and the Attorney General – if your ballot is postmarked by November 2 it will be counted up until 14 days post-election. We should be asking the Republicans why they don’t want every single vote in Michigan to count. With 42 days to go Republicans are pulling out all the tricks to disenfranchise voters, while the Democrats are focused on ensuring that every eligible voter in Michigan can cast a ballot and be guaranteed it will be counted.”
