Today, as President Joe Biden makes his fifth visit to Michigan since taking office, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes released the following statement:

“Since President Biden’s last visit in October, he’s delivered yet again for Michiganders — this time securing investments that will help rebuild our roads, expand access to high-speed internet, and ensure clean drinking water in every Michigan household. To put it simply: This deal is a win for communities in every corner of our state, and we’re thrilled to welcome President Biden to Detroit to celebrate this historic infrastructure week.

“Thanks to Michigan Democrats and President Biden’s steadfast leadership, this deal will create thousands of good-paying jobs for Michiganders while leading the way in electric vehicle creation, combating the climate crisis, modernizing our infrastructure, and putting us on a path to compete around the world — all with Gov. Whitmer leading the way.

“Voters know that President Biden and Michigan Democrats are delivering for their families, and we’re going to make sure they won’t forget it in 2022.”

In addition to the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, which will deliver $10 billion in federal funding to Michigan, here’s are a few examples of the many ways President Biden has delivered for Michiganders since taking office:

  • Ensured over 1.02 million Michigan families received checks from President Biden’s expanded Child Tax Credit, helping cover the costs of raising kids:
  • The Biden-Harris administration’s national vaccines program has helped more than 70 percent of Michiganders get at least one dose and vaccines are now available for everyone aged 5 and under; and
  • Provided $6.7 billion in state fiscal relief and nearly $4.1 billion in local fiscal relief through the American Rescue Plan, which Gov. Whitmer has used to invest $100 million in funding for affordable, safe housing across the state, $150 million to revitalize state parks and trails, and fund dozens of other programs.
