As Senate Republicans move to delay meaningful COVID-19 relief with procedural tactics, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes released the following statement:

“More than 15,600 Michiganders have lost their lives to COVID-19, yet Republicans in Washington are playing politics with this budget resolution. This resolution is about expanding access to vaccines, helping to reopen schools, and putting money in the pockets of the American people. Republicans are more focused on forcing extraneous issues and trying to score cheap political points than they are on delivering for the American people. There is broad support across the country for this relief package, which is part of why Democrats were put in charge by the voters; Republicans should work across the aisle to pass this measure or get out of the way.”
