Trump’s former MAGA wingman Mike Pence is leaning into his anti-choice record as he crisscrosses the country stumping for some of the most extreme candidates on the GOP slate and setting a marker in the ground for every Republican.
In an interview with Fox News, Pence doubled down on his extreme, anti-choice record — including his draconian call to ban abortion “in all 50 states.” When asked about other Republicans running from their anti-choice records and whether he was doing the same, Pence said: “I haven’t.”
Fox News: “Former Vice President Mike Pence said he and other pro-life Republicans are not shying away from talking about abortion on the campaign trail ahead of the midterm elections in the wake of a landmark Supreme Court ruling…
‘As I’ve been traveling around the country, I haven’t,’ Pence told Fox News Digital after his remarks at the Club for Growth School Freedom Forum Tuesday.”
In the same interview, Pence said he would not apologize for his radical stances and that he would push for abortion to be banned in every state.
Mike Pence: “‘I’ve often said I’m pro-life… I don’t apologize for it. I’d love to see the sanctity of life restored to the center of American law in all 50 states. But I recognize that may take as long to accomplish in every state in the country as it did to overturn Roe v. Wade…’”
Let’s not forget: Pence is the key architect of a radical policy blueprint that would ban medicated abortion pills. These are the same pills used to treat women who are suffering miscarriages — but extreme Republicans like Mike Pence will stop at nothing to take away women’s freedom to make their health care decisions.
CNN: “… Pence’s speech will feature a new policy blueprint for conservatives to follow in the post-Roe environment and respond directly to an executive order signed by Biden last Friday directing the Department of Health and Human Services to safeguard access to medicated abortion pills… [Pence’s] group Advancing American Freedom released a video highlighting his record of promoting anti-abortion policies and judges — both as governor of Indiana and in the Trump administration.”
Make no mistake: Mike Pence’s extreme crusade to ban abortion nationwide, and make it a litmus test among Republicans, is wildly out-of-touch with the majority of Americans.
