Today, former Vice President Mike Pence will be in Bedford, New Hampshire. DNC spokesperson Ammar Moussa released the following statement:

“New Hampshire might be the latest stop on Mike Pence’s desperate, cross-country ‘redemption’ tour, but he can’t outrun his extensive anti-choice and ultra-MAGA record. As conservative Supreme Court justices prepare to overturn Roe v. Wade, Democrats will ensure voters in the Granite State and across the country remember Pence’s long anti-choice record and how he stood shoulder to shoulder with Donald Trump as the Trump-Pence administration viciously attacked and blocked access to women’s health care.”

Mike Pence has repeatedly said – even as recently as this week – that he believes Roe v. Wade should be sent to “the ash heap of history.”

May 2022: “We pray that our five Supreme Court Justices listed in that draft opinion will have the courage of their convictions … Hold firm. We pray that they will send Roe v. Wade to the ash heap of history where it belongs.”

July 2016: “[If Trump is elected] we’ll see Roe vs. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.”

February 2011: “I long for the day that Roe v. Wade is sent to the ash heap of history”

Pence bragged about how the Trump-Pence administration stacked the federal courts with extreme judges, repeatedly attacked abortion access, and stripped funding from Planned Parenthood.

May 2022: “[The Trump-Pence Administration] appointed 300 conservatives to our federal courts at every level, including Justice Neil Gorsuch, Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Justice Amy Coney Barrett. All along the way, we stood for religious liberty and the right to life.”

June 2019: “I was honored to cast the tie-breaking vote and to watch the President sign legislation that allowed states across the country to defund Planned Parenthood.”

May 2018: “I’m pro-life and I don’t apologize for it and I couldn’t be more honored to serve shoulder to shoulder with the most pro-life president in my lifetime. President Donald Trump has taken one step after another to affirm this administration’s commitment to the sanctity of life.”

While serving as the governor of Indiana, Mike Pence signed anti-abortion legislation every year of his tenure.

New York Times: “Since his election as governor, in 2012, [Pence] has signed anti-abortion measures every year he has been in office.”
