Over not one, but two national profiles over the weekend, unwavering election denialist Tudor Dixon “renew[ed] her unfounded attacks” on the democratic process. The DeVos sellout, who “has said repeatedly that the 2020 election was stolen,” is also now “pointedly” refusing to commit to accept the results of the 2022 gubernatorial election.

Already banking on manufacturing “fresh post-election chaos” 50 days away from poll close, Dixon is cashing in on the foundation of disinformation she’s built for two years straight. In statements provided to both the Washington Post and New York Times, the extreme conspiracy theorist used baseless and discredited allegations about the outcome of 2020 to preemptively cast doubt on Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s ability to “[run] a fair election, the way she should be.”

These new statements only further reinforce Dixon’s years of dangerous election conspiracy theories.

Even before she launched a bid for governor, Dixon made an online commentating career out of stoking public distrust in the democratic process while anchoring on Real America’s Voice, an extreme online right-wing network.

She has “claimed the election was stolen”, baselessly cried fraud and theft multiple times in the months directly following the 2020 general election, then used these sentiments to advocate for limiting absentee ballots and implementing voter ID – even though it is already state law.

Most damningly, during a primary debate when asked yes or no on the question of if Donald Trump won the 2020 election in Michigan, Dixon responded “yes.” And when asked to raise her hand during another debate if she believed not only that there was fraud, but enough to impact the outcome of the 2020 election, Dixon again reaffirmed her claims that it did.

MDP Chair Lavora Barnes issued the following statement:

“Tudor Dixon is a dangerous conspiracy theorist who will spread lies undermining our democracy to advance her wrong-for-Michigan agenda. Stoking public distrust in the democratic process won’t educate a single kid, create a single job, fund a single law enforcement department, or fix a single damn road. While Dixon continues to foster mistrust in Michigan’s strong elections, Governor Whitmer will stay focused on making progress on the issues that matter most to hardworking families.”
