“…Her campaign has largely relied on an allied super PAC…which was the only Republican entity on air for the month of September.” -POLITICO

With just 4 weeks left in the general election, DeVos sellout Tudor Dixon is desperate to compensate for the fact that “there isn’t a lot of enthusiasm” for her wrong-for-Michigan agenda – and special interests and outside groups have been more than happy to fill the gap.

According to new analysis from POLITICO, Dixon, who is “not on television herself” and hasn’t been since before the August primary, has relied on “allied super PAC” Michigan Families United “to a heavy degree, both in the primary and in the general election.” The Republican Governors Association is “providing some more backup” as well with a multi-million dollar ad buy set to begin this week.

Bankrolled almost exclusively by the DeVoses, who have already “contributed more than $4 million to outside groups” on Dixon’s behalf this cycle, Michigan Families United has run the majority of the airwave interference propping up her campaign.

Dixon has done nothing to distance herself from this PAC “shrouded in secrecy.”

Shortly after the primary, she participated in a “policy forum” set up for the sole purpose of capturing footage MFU could use in their ads. And this new piece brings to light how Dixon has put “unusually extensive” guidance and “over an hour of b-roll footage” on her campaign website as a not-so-subtle ask for special interests to push the messaging she can’t afford to run directly.

Aside from MFU, PACs supporting Dixon funded by other “deep-pocketed donors” were able to spend “a combined $2.18 million” in her favor to drag her through the bitter primary. Since then, one PAC put five figures on the radio, another threw in $100,000, a different one “reserved $103,000 worth of airtime,” another announced a  $1 million ad campaign, and Susan B. Anthony List announced they would be parachuting in six figures.

MDP spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite issued the following statement:

“Over the last 28 days of this election cycle, expect DeVos sellout Tudor Dixon’s pleas for special interest involvement to get even more shameless as she struggles to gain support for her dangerous plans. No amount of money can distract Michiganders from her wrong-for-Michigan agenda that would eliminate abortion access, gut public education, and eliminate funding for law enforcement. Working families deserve a leader who will protect their priorities, not someone who is only working for the DeVos family and special interests.”
