Last week, President Biden spearheaded the passage of historic legislation investing in our nation’s infrastructure. While a vast majority of the American people support the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, 94% of House Republicans voted against it. Now, their hometown papers are holding them accountable for voting against their constituents, and reminding everyone that the Republican Party is in chaos and its primary goal is obstruction.

Republicans across the country are already being held accountable for their votes against the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal:

Arizona RepublicNone of Arizona’s Republicans in Congress voted for the infrastructure legislation that will bring billions of dollars to the state.

KERATexas could get billions from the infrastructure bill, yet all Texas Republicans voted against it

Tampa Bay Times EditorialNo thanks to the state’s Republicans, the Sunshine State will get much-needed money to fix its roads, bridges and much more

The News & Observer Editorial: “The lame excuses NC Republicans had for opposing the infrastructure bill…Reps. Ted Bud, Dan Bishop, Virginia Foxx, David Rouzer, Patrick McHenry, Madison Cawthorn, Greg Murphy and Richard Hudson opposed spending that will repair the state’s roads and bridges, expand broadband, improve mass transit, take lead out of drinking water and make the state more resilient to flooding related to climate change.”

Chattanooga Times Free Press: “When these improvements and jobs begin rolling out in our states, you voters and taxpayers can count on our federal Republican politicians to forget that they voted against all of these things.

Instead of fighting for the American people, Republicans in Congress have continued to work overtime to rebrand themselves as the party of utter chaos:

St. Louis Post-Dispatch: “All but 13 House Republicans voted against it on supposed fiscal-responsibility grounds — this from the party that has added some $2 trillion to the deficit with its 2017 tax cuts for the wealthy. It’s the latest reminder that today’s GOP stands for knee-jerk obstructionism, coddling the rich and pretty much nothing else.

Mississippi Daily Journal Editorial: “Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith and Reps. Trent Kelly, Michael Guest and Steven Palazzo — all voted against the bill, citing a handful of political talking points as their rationale. Most of those political talking points, however, are inaccurate…We are glad Wicker and Thompson rose to meet the moment for the future of Mississippi. Perhaps in the future, the rest of our congressional delegation will focus more on what’s best for Mississippi and less on their Washington political games.

Pennsylvania Capital-Star: “If you needed further confirmation of Washington’s current state of dysfunction, consider this: The 13 Republican lawmakers who voted with Democrats to send a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill to President Joe Biden’s desk late Friday night are finding themselves threatened with primaries and worse for their (alleged) singular act of heresy.”
