Though Michigan’s election results were certified years ago and subsequently been backed up by more than 250 audits across the state since, all 12 GOP gubernatorial candidates have either stoked distrust around our democratic processes or committed to support legislation that will make it harder for all Michiganders to vote.

Among them, Tudor Dixon has been one of the main candidates fully embracing election conspiracy theories in order to falsely claim the 2020 election was stolen and gain support for her wrong-for-Michigan agenda.

A mainstay at “Trump Unity” rallies across Michigan last summer, Dixon took to Twitter multiple times in the months directly following the 2020 general election to cry fraud and theft without providing any basis for these accusations. She has used these sentiments to advocate for voter ID even though it is already state law and limit absentee ballots because she believes they caused “widespread fraud” in the 2020 election.

When asked if Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson “deliberately tilted the election so that Joe Biden would win,” Dixon not only argued in favor of the statement but claimed Benson’s actions were undeniably “premeditated.”

Predictably, she has thoroughly rejected the fact that the Republican-led Senate Oversight Committee released a 55-page report definitively stating that there was “no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud.” Presented by Committee Chair Sen. Ed McBroom (R-Vulcan), the report additionally referred to the 2020 crusade as “a nationwide conspiracy to steal the election” in which its supporters “place all other statements and actions they make in a position of zero credibility.” During an appearance on Off the Record, Dixon got in a heated back and forth with the rest of the panel, arguing that they were “misleading [their] viewers” by simply explaining the reports findings that there was no evidence of fraud.

Dixon has also expressed support for an Arizona-style “audit” in Michigan, despite the multi-million dollar sham exercise reinforcing the fact that there was no evidence of fraud and actually netting more votes for President Biden than in the certified results.

MDP spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite issued the following statement:

“Tudor Dixon has been a dyed-in-the-wool election conspiracy theorist since day one, embracing any and all outlandish claims in order to reverse results that have been audited in Michigan over 250 times without turning up any evidence of fraud. Her singular focus on pushing baseless conspiracy theories has come at the expense of any attention to plans that boost Michigan’s economy and infrastructure. Michiganders deserve a leader that will fight to protect their right to vote, not manufacture bogus claims in order to strip them without cause.”
