Trump’s desperate effort to overturn the will of the American people has failed. With 35 lost lawsuits and certifications completed or moving forward in every state, Trump has no path forward. As a Republican judge in Pennsylvania said in dismissing yet another Trump lawsuit, the president’s debunked claims have “no merit” and are “without evidence.”

Trump lost in courts and election boards everywhere. His attempt to overturn the results of a free and fair election are “dead.”

CNN: “Trump’s effort to steal the election is done”

Daily Beast: “Experts agree: Trump’s legal effort is dead, and rigor mortis is setting in.”

New York Times: “After legal defeats in nearly all of the key swing states — Michigan, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona and Wisconsin — Mr. Trump’s path to overturning the results of the election through the courts has all but vanished.”

NBC News: “The president is concerned his team is comprised of ‘fools that are making him look bad.’”

New York Times: “President Trump, who said there would be so much winning in his White House that Americans would grow tired of it, is of a different mind-set these days. He is not, apparently, tired of losing. Which is what he and his allies keep doing in their desperate efforts to overturn an election that Mr. Trump did not win.”

Washington Post: “The Trump campaign has experienced almost nothing but setbacks in its efforts to overturn the election results.”

ABC News: “For President Trump, defections and gaffes hamper 2020 election court challenges”

NBC News: “President Donald Trump and other Republicans have filed over 30 lawsuits across six swing states in an attempt to contest the election results. Most of them have been shot down or withdrawn, and no court has found even a single instance of fraud.”

NBC News Legal Analyst Glenn Kirschner: “It’s beyond an embarrassment. It’s both really poor lawyering and it has the worst possible motive behind it. It’s all in the name of overturning the will of American voter.”

Election Lawyer Matthew Sanderson: “This is like Bush v. Gore, but replace James Baker with the editor of a QAnon subreddit. It’s not competent lawyering. There are strategic errors, typographical errors — every kind of error you can make in a case.”

Aspen Institute’s Garrett M. Graff: “Donald Trump really thoroughly emphasized how much he lost. He lost the unofficial counts. He lost the recounts. He lost the court fights. And then he lost the certifications. (I mean he lost Georgia alone like four times, right?!) And then he lost the ascertainment. Trump lost.”

Former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal: “These people are 1 out of 37 cases…they’re terrible losers.”

Former Acting Attorney General Stuart Gerson: “We’re seeing some horrible lawyering.”

Governor Chris Christie: “The conduct of the president’s legal team has been a national embarrassment.”

Former Solicitor General Charles Fried: “Garbage.”

Today, Nevada and Pennsylvania officially certified their elections. President-elect Biden won Pennsylvania by over 80,000 votes — almost double Trump’s margin in 2016.

New York Times: “With multiple battleground states that Mr. Biden won now having certified their results, the flailing effort by Mr. Trump and his allies to subvert the election and overturn the votes of millions of Americans is nearing its end.”

Las Vegas Review-Journal: “The Nevada Supreme Court certified the state’s election results on Tuesday morning following numerous failed post-election court challenges that sought to delay or thwart it.”

NBC News: “Pennsylvania certified its election results Tuesday showing that President-elect Joe Biden won the state, solidifying Biden’s national victory and dealing yet another blow to President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the election’s outcome.”

Philadelphia Inquirer: “Trump’s attacks on the results of the election have centered on a largely unsuccessful and increasingly desperate legal fight, as well as escalating rhetorical attacks.”

Washington Post: “Certification arrived after the Trump campaign failed to gain traction in court over its claims that there was voter fraud, that GOP election observers in Philadelphia were denied access and that deficient mail ballots were mishandled in several counties.”

Washington Post: “Pennsylvania and Nevada, two key battleground states, certified President-elect Joe Biden’s wins Tuesday, even as President Trump continued to fight results in court and insisted that he will ‘never concede.’”

Bloomberg: “The certification was the latest in a series of defeats for Trump, who has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, to have won the Nov. 3 election.”

Yesterday, the Michigan State Board of Canvassers officially certified election results showing President-elect Biden won by 155,000 votes, more than 14 times Trump’s margin in 2016.

CNN: “President Donald Trump’s not-secret attempt to steal the presidential election likely met its end Monday. And it was a group of local officials doing their job in Michigan that ended it.”

Politico: “President Donald Trump’s push to subvert the 2020 election results took a potentially fatal hit Monday, as election officials in Michigan certified President-elect Joe Biden’s victory and more key battlegrounds took steps to formalize Biden’s wins.”

BuzzFeed: “The Michigan Board of State Canvassers voted to certify the results of the general election with a 3–0 with one abstention, closing out President Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s desperate effort to delay the certification in a state that was won by President-elect Joe Biden.”

University of Florida Professor Michael McDonald: “You know the drill: Trump is still a loser”

Former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal: “It’s over. Trump has lost far too much in far too many states, and the Michigan certification today that you just mentioned underscores that.”

BuzzFeed’s Zoe Tillman: “The Michigan Supreme Court rebuffed the last remaining GOP challenge to try to stop Wayne County from certifying election results pending an audit — not a ruling the merits, rather the court wasn’t persuaded it should take it up at all”

Sen. Bill Cassidy: “With Michigan’s certifying it’s results, Joe Biden has over 270 electoral college votes. President Trump’s legal team has not presented evidence of the massive fraud which would have had to be present to overturn the election. I voted for President Trump but Joe Biden won.”

The Trump campaign lost five lawsuits before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court yesterday alone.

ABC News: “Trump campaign loses 5 more cases in Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision”

CNN: “Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court on Monday rejected the Trump campaign’s effort to block the counting of absentee ballots with missing dates or names, clearing the way for 10,000 votes to be counted in Philadelphia and Allegheny counties, in another defeat for President Donald Trump’s desperate legal battle.”

Law & Crime: “Pennsylvania Counties Torch Rudy Giuliani’s ‘Untenable’ and ‘Piecemeal’ Attempt at Appealing Resounding Loss”

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro: “Within the span of about 45 minutes today, they lost an appeal in the Third Circuit and lost a case up at the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. We have rounded the turn. The election is long over, and now the transition begins.”

A conservative federal judge threw out yet another Trump lawsuit on Saturday, saying it was “not how the Constitution works.”

Associated Press: “In blistering ruling, judge throws out Trump suit in Pa.”

Washington Post: “The judge’s decision, which he explained in a scathing 37-page opinion, was a thorough rebuke of the president’s sole attempt to challenge the statewide result in Pennsylvania.”

Bloomberg News: “Trump Campaign Loses Pennsylvania Suit Called ‘Monster’ By Judge”

Politico: “The ruling is the latest rejection by federal and state court judges of Trump’s effort to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. And the judge’s stinging refutation of the campaign’s claims is yet another indication that Trump’s last-ditch effort to cling to power is slipping”

Philadelphia Inquirer: “‘Not how the Constitution works’: Federal judge tosses Trump suit seeking to disrupt Pa. election results”

Loyola Law School Professor Jessica Levinson: “It’s like the legal equivalent of being run over by a forklift, a tractor, a van and then a small SUV just for good measure just to make sure you’re really dead… It’s rare to see a legal opinion saying: Absolutely not. Don’t come back in this courtroom.”

New York Times Magazine’s Emily Bazelon: “This is an important lawsuit in Pennsylvania and an important defeat for the Trump campaign.”
