Slam Republicans on Health Care, Failed Jobs Record

Ahead of Mike Pence’s Waterford rally, the Michigan Democratic Party held a press conference with Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, Pontiac Mayor Deirdre Waterman and Fems for Dems founder Lori Goldman. At the press conference, they highlighted the importance of early voting and slammed Donald Trump and Mike Pence for their failed leadership on COVID-19. They also blasted John James and Republicans up and down the ballot for fighting to gut protections for pre-existing conditions.

“This election is the most important election of our lifetime,” said Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence. “We’ve fought so hard for this right, and we can’t afford to sit on the sidelines. We need to vote for leaders who will take this pandemic seriously, fight to protect our health care, and invest in Michigan’s economy. The next 12 days are now or never- we need to elect Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Gary Peters.”

“Mike Pence is right next door today, and I’m sure he will spout lies about this administration’s failed leadership,” said Pontiac Mayor Deirdre Waterman. “Just like Donald Trump will at tonight’s debate. We can complain all we want about this president and the damage he’s done to Pontiac and to our state, but that won’t do us any good. We need to take action. My message to Pontiac and to everyone in Michigan is that you can make your voice heard, now. Vote early and in-person or drop your absentee ballot at a drop box like the one here. Let’s send a message to Donald Trump and vote, vote, vote for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Gary Peters.”

“Michiganders have suffered because of this administration’s failures – and we’re organizing across Oakland County emphasizing the importance of turning in ballots because we cannot afford 4 more years of Donald Trump and Mike Pence.” said Fems for Dems founder Lori Goldman. “And Michigan’s Senate race is one of the most competitive in the country, so we’re laser focused on making sure we win and take back the Senate. John James stands ‘2000%’ with Trump. Just like Trump he wants to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, which would gut protections for pre-existing conditions – in the middle of a pandemic. We’re going to work relentlessly to get Oakland County out to vote for Democrats up and down the ballot to send a message to Trump, Pence, and John James.”
