DNC Chair Jaime Harrison issued the following statement in recognition of Jewish American Heritage Month:

“This Jewish American Heritage Month, we proudly celebrate the activism of Jewish Americans and the invaluable contributions they’ve made to our nation. Throughout our history, Jewish American civil rights leaders have worked across movements to make our nation more just, to empower the powerless, and to give a voice to the voiceless.

“As we honor the achievements of Jewish Americans, we must also recognize and condemn the persecution the Jewish community has faced in recent years and the fact that anti-Semitism remains a reality in America. We must call out and uproot this prejudice with all of our might.

“As we begin the long process of getting the country back on track, let us embrace the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam — repairing the world — and repair our communities better and stronger than before, centering justice and equity as we rebuild.”
