LANSING — Mike Rogers is facing more scrutiny for quitting on Michigan and still being “on the list of active voters in the Sunshine State, registered at a home he owns in Cape Coral.” Rogers abandoned Michigan nearly a decade ago, and he is registered to vote in Florida.

Michigan Advance reported on Rogers quitting on Michigan and moving to a $1.7 million, “4,751-square-foot home in Cape Coral valued at $1.7 million [that] was his official residence until his decision to run for U.S. Senate.” Rogers received a $50,000 homestead tax exemption on the Florida mansion in 2022, indicating it’s his primary residence and a “renovation permit that same year worth $327,000, more than the cost of the entire Michigan house.”

Voters are “disgruntled” and bashed Rogers for packing up and leaving Michigan and being a “carpetbagger” who should be running in Florida instead.

Detroit News: Rogers still registered in Florida

  • Questions were raised last week about Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers’ still being registered to vote in Florida.
  • The Detroit News checked with the Florida Department of State, which confirmed that, yes, Rogers remains on the list of active voters in the Sunshine State, registered at a home he owns in Cape Coral. He registered at that address in January 2022.
