This week’s inaugural roundup highlights 2024 GOP candidates and other MAGA Republicans spouting extremism, hypocrisy, and chaos. This week, you might have missed: Ron DeSantis attacking federal law enforcement, Donald Trump vowing to kill green jobs in Georgia, Nikki Haley and Mike Pence both pledging their support for Trump’s tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, Francis Suarez kicking off his presidential campaign by supporting a national abortion ban, and MAGA Republicans admitting that their latest political stunt is another flop.

Ron DeSantis doubled down on his mission of defunding federal law enforcement after previously threatening to defund the DOJ and the FBI.

RealClearPolitics: “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been working for months on plans to tear down and rebuild both the Department of Justice and the FBI.”

DeSantis: “We’re going to break up these agencies.”

In Georgia, Donald Trump pledged to kill the state’s electric vehicle industry that has boomed under President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act — which has created green jobs across the state and the country since its signing.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “But in a weekend speech to the Georgia Republican Convention, former President Donald Trump took aim at the state’s fastest-growing industry.

‘Now they want to give you all electric cars,’ Trump, the GOP frontrunner in the 2024 presidential primary, said Saturday in Columbus. After hyperbolically knocking the charging times of EVs, Trump said: ‘First day in office, I’ll be ending all of that.’”

Nikki Haley said she wants to extend Trump’s tax cuts, which added HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars to the national deficit, handed giveaways to the ultra-wealthy, and left working families behind.

Haley: “What I’d like to see is us go back to what Trump had under the tax cuts under him … I was there.”

Mike Pence also expressed support for the disastrous Trump-Pence tax cuts and said he wants to make them PERMANENT.

Pence: “We got to make the Trump-Pence tax cuts permanent. That’s got to happen in 2025.”

Francis Suarez launched his presidential campaign and immediately expressed support for a nationwide abortion ban.

Wall Street Journal: “The mayor said he would support a national ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, with exceptions for rape, incest and the life of mother.”

After promising bombshell evidence as part of their latest political charade, MAGA Republicans admitted that they don’t know if their so-called bombshell even exists and tried to walk back their own claims.
