As Republicans redouble their efforts to push an extreme MAGA agenda in Congress, this much is clear: If Republicans gain power, they could work to gut Medicare and Social Security benefits.

Senator Rick Scott, in charge of electing Republicans to the Senate, has doubled and tripled down on his plan to end the Social Security and Medicare guarantee if given the opportunity.

Washington Post Opinion: “Scott’s plan would also sunset — eliminate — all federal legislation over five years, under the (risky) assumption that worthy laws would be reenacted. That could mean an end to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, everything else mentioned above — and potentially more.”

The Republican Study Committee, representing the majority of House Republicans, unveiled their plan to drastically cut Medicare and Social Security benefits.

Mother Jones: “A little-noticed budget document released in June by the Republican Study Committee details the group’s priorities… The 122-page manifesto calls for significantly reducing the size of America’s social safety net… [and] raising the age requirement to receive full Social Security benefits.”

Both House and Senate Republicans have shown voters that they could gut essential programs like Social Security and Medicare if given the chance. Make no mistake: the MAGA agenda is simply too dangerous for Americans.
