conspiracy theorist and special interest candidate Tudor Dixon to the general election, MDP Chair Lavora Barnes issued the following statement:

“The contrast in this race could not be clearer: while Governor Whitmer has a strong record of getting things done for Michiganders, Tudor Dixon has a dangerous agenda that would devastate Michigan working families. No amount of special interest or DeVos money will be able to distract from Dixon’s plans to ban abortion without exceptions for rape, incest, or health of the mother, dismantle public education, and slash funding for infrastructure and law enforcement. The Michigan Democratic Party will continue to hold Dixon accountable for her disastrous plans and baseless conspiracy theories.”

Tudor Dixon’s Career and Campaign are Full of Offensive Comments and Baseless Conspiracy Theories

Dixon’s support from political insiders and special interests, including the DeVos family, doesn’t negate the radical conspiracy theories and numerous wild and unproven claims she’s made and embraced throughout her career and in her campaign. In reality, she has regularly pushed baseless lies to justify the “aggressively conservative” and dangerous positions she’s taken on several issues.

Dixon got caught claiming that Planned Parenthood has employed a “business model” to “introduce sex” to “7th graders” so they can profit off of “plenty of abortions in high school.”

And before launching her campaign, Dixon – who called public schools “government indoctrination centers” – was notorious for diving headfirst into the conspiracy theory deep end, baselessly claiming that Governor Whitmer “has decided to represent cartels” and “supports the abuse of children at our Southern border.”

While still working as a commentator for extreme conservative online program “Real America’s Voice,” Dixon carved out a brand for herself off the backs of minorities and other cultures. She called hijabs oppressive garments, suggested Iranian families are violent to their daughters, and excused a comedian’s use of blackface.

Dixon took to Twitter multiple times in the months directly following the 2020 general election to cry “sloppy and obvious” fraud and theft without providing any basis for these accusations. These claims were echoed over several debates this year, where she claimed that Trump “legitimately won the 2020 election in Michigan.”

Dixon has also downplayed and lied about the insurrection since before announcing her run for governor. Before the dust could even settle on the U.S. Capitol, she suggested that “a combination of maybe ANTIFA” was to blame. She jumped to the defense of fellow candidate Ryan Kelley after he was arrested by the FBI for his role in the violent insurrection.

She has worked to undermine our democracy with election conspiracy theories and agreed that there was enough fraud in the 2020 election to change the result, which has been thoroughly debunked by the Republican-led Senate Oversight Committee in a 55-page report definitively stating that there was “no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud.”

Tudor Dixon is an Anti-Abortion Extremist Who Would Force Pregnancy on Child Victims of Incestual Rape

Dixon recently faced considerable scrutiny in Michigan and nationwide for saying that incest and rape resulting in the pregnancy of a child was a “perfect example” of why abortion should be banned. When given the opportunity to clarify, she doubled down on her callous statement saying, “I’m not hiding from it” before going on to claim that abortion helps sex predators abuse women and children because they can’t be prosecuted without the evidence of the resulting pregnancy. It’s only the latest example of her callous anti-abortion extremism.

Endorsed by special interest groups Right to Life of Michigan and Susan B. Anthony List, Dixon has distinguished herself as a staunch supporter of the currently dormant 1931 abortion ban that criminalizes abortion, makes felons out of reproductive health care providers and provides no exceptions for rape or incest.

She has plainly stated that she is against all exceptions to abortion, even in cases or rape and incest, or when the health of the mother is at risk. Referring to the 1931 ban as a “good law,” Dixon has also committed to support new restrictions on abortion as governor.

When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Dixon issued a lengthy statement applauding the outcome and further reinforcing her crusade to ban abortions. She also maintained that pregnancy should be forced on women regardless of if it was the result of an “awful circumstance.”

Tudor Dixon Sold Out to Do Betsy DeVos’ Bidding and Rewrite Michigan’s Constitution So She Can Shortchange Our Kids

As the DeVos family personally bankrolled a million-dollar effort to force Tudor Dixon through the primary, she became one of the most vocal gubernatorial candidates pledging to decimate public education funding by any means necessary.

Last year, she voiced her support for “the latest effort by legislative Republicans to create a school voucher system in Michigan” and vowed to sign the attempt to privatize education and steal $500 million annually from public schools into law as governor.

Dixon also announced that repealing Michigan’s constitutional ban on using public money for private education was a top priority for her campaign. Dixon said she “absolutely” backed a tax plan that would slash $3.5 billion from public schools.

Tudor Dixon’s Budget Plan Would Slash Billions From Michigan Law Enforcement and Infrastructure

A major pillar of Tudor Dixon’s wrong-for-Michigan agenda is her crusade to force billions in cuts to budgets impacting the critical services that keep our streets safe and continue to rebuild Michigan’s infrastructure.

Dixon proposed a “piss-poor public policy proposal” that “those who watch the state’s budget closely said would be catastrophic for funding.” It is estimated to eliminate nearly $12 billion from the budget and $8 billion from the general fund, threatening the “primary funding source” providing over 60% of Michigan State Police budget and threatening thousands of law enforcement jobs.

The Michigan Association of Police Organizations warned in 2017 that plans like these “would have a devastating impact on police budgets at the state and local levels” and leave law enforcement “crippled.” Earlier this year, MAPO reiterated their opposition to a similar plan, noting that it “would reduce police protection and create ‘long-term budget problems.’”

Dixon’s backwards budget plan would also cut $600 million from Michigan and Comprehensive Transportation funds which provide funding for state and local roads, directly threatening matching federal dollars as well.

Dixon has said she “absolutely” supported “phas[ing] out” funding streams for critical services as quickly as possible. She has yet to identify how or if she would replace the law enforcement funding eliminated by this “dramatic shift in state government operations.” This trend continued as Detroit News reported that Dixon still “has not provided specifics” of how she plans to rip billions out of Michigan’s budget and fully fund law enforcement at the same time.
