Following the conclusion of a chaotic, messy, and divisive MIGOP nominating convention that devolved to boos and shouting for several hours to eventually produce a dangerous Republican ticket led by Tudor Dixon, Shane Hernandez, Matt DePerno, and Kristina Karamo, MDP Chair Lavora Barnes issued the following statement:

“Unity was nowhere to be found today in Lansing as Republicans begrudgingly backed Tudor Dixon – who was not supported in the primary by 60% of the electorate and has been missing from the campaign trail for weeks – and her establishment running mate Shane Hernandez. With the addition of Matt DePerno and Kristina Karamo to the ticket, today’s convention confirmed that Republicans will be running on extreme election denialism, the total elimination of reproductive freedom, and a crusade to decimate public education as we know it for November. Michigan deserves better than candidates bought and paid for by special interests, pushing fringe policies that will harm working families.”
