Trump is Connected to Project 2025

Former President Donald Trump is strongly connected to policies outlined in the increasingly unpopular Project 2025 put out by The Heritage Foundation as the “2025 Presidential Transition Project.” Since this document became widely known and unpopular, Trump and his campaign have attempted to disavow any connection to it.

Obviously, Trump’s claims that, “I have no idea who is behind it,” and “I know nothing about Project 2025,” are complete lies. Here’s the proof:

  1. In the “About” section of the Project 2025 website:
“The 2025 Presidential Transition Project is being organized by The Heritage Foundation and builds off Heritage’s longstanding “Mandate for Leadership,” which has been highly influential for presidential administrations since the Reagan era. Most recently, the Trump administration relied heavily on Heritage’s “Mandate” for policy guidance, embracing nearly two-thirds of Heritage’s proposals within just one year in office.”
  2. According to NBC News, at a 2022 Heritage Foundation event Trump said, “This is a great group and they’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do ... when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America.”
  3. USA Today reports that at least 31 of the document’s 38 authors and editors have connections to the Trump Administration including 6 of his former cabinet secretaries.

In addition to Trump’s direct support, his Vice-Presidential nominee, J.D. Vance, has his own ties to Project 2025. For example, the forword to Project 2025 Leader, Kevin Roberts’ book “Dawn’s Early Light; Taking Back Washington to Save America”, (due out in September) was written by Vance. He wrote, “Never before has a figure with Roberts’s depth and stature within the American Right tried to articulate a genuinely new future for conservatism. We are now all realizing that it’s time to circle the wagons and load the muskets. In the fights that lay ahead, these ideas are an essential weapon.” Click here to find the full report for Project 2025.
